I'm not even sure if I'm supposed to write these lyrics after Stasy from Hot Mama already had a try at it. Maybe that after accepting two of my lyrics Hot Mama might make it three ;-) I'm not at all interested in car racing, hence I have no inkling of...
Communication has two sides, a sender and a receiver. What the receiver 'sees' in a communication need not be what the sender meant. Lyrics have words, songs trigger emotions. What the listeners perceive and feel need not reflect what the songwriter thought...
Yet again I have a backing track with no matching lyrics - as far as I can make out at the moment. I recorded and edited the track sometime earlier this year and only rediscovered it recently when I was about to record the vocals for "lifelong pleasure"....
.. to match his music. This time I not only have the music with sung nonsense lyrics but also a text that Fabio had written himself but discarded. This I can use a my 'template' to match my own words with. I then use the music to double-check, namely...
This is going to be another example of setting music to text - I know there is the expression "to set (text) to music", but what do you say when you work the other way 'round? Anyway, Markus had sent two songs using dummy text for the vocals, the first...
Five new MotorPlanet songs are in the pipeline. I've already heard them on a private party although they still lacked a proper text - that is supposed to be written by me. You can watch me working on them right here
... but many different ways. Here's Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull) on that subject:
"That girl got balls" is my video that is most often viewed - only four hundred odd times, mind you, but that's often for the likes of me ;-) And it actually got a few "likes". My own favourite would have been "Come real", but then, I'm biased anyway...
... will be the title of my next little project. It won't deal with HIV or cancer, though. In spite of the title I intend the text to be quite positive and life affirming. In the line of "lost in space" or "peaceful times".
I think I've got the chorus: the last of nature's mysteries life's a terminal disease there's just one chance that you must seize life's a terminal disease As for the structure I imagine: verse bridge chorus verse bridge chorus [solo] bridge chorus chorus...
Spartacus.mp3
sense of regognition ... were my 100st lyrics, and this is what became of them
Ray had already written and recorded a folk tune, now I've recorded a quite different tune myself. You'll find it if you look for it ;-)
To spare me the labour of editing the whole lot again (actually it would be a simple matter of copy-and-paste, I admit), here's a link: Post on Songwriter101 ;-)
nothing much to life but living nothing much to gifts but giving nothing much to love but loving nothing much to me - but hey who cares A rough sketch for a chorus for a song that might be called "nothing much to life".
Two lines for the bridge: are there men who are not good enough? does it count when you're in love? Aren't there any viable rhymes for "love"? (No, that's not another line, that's a question). The word that is most often needed and used in songs comes...
Following a suggestion by Robert I've made the lyrics present tense (well, past tense in the 3rd verse). He also helped me clean up the meter of the pre-chorus. You find the 'official' version on my lyrics pages (at the moment under "latest additions...
... quite a few posts on a little piece of text ... he's leaving traces o'r many places his postings, thoughts and pictures spread over hyperspaces he's leaving traces better, although 'hyperspace' should normally be used in the singular, but I like it...
... without their spouse, I mean. My wife doubts it. I cannot know because I can't dance ;-) Maybe I'll have to rewrite the first verse for "falling victim". I'll await Peter's reaction (maybe he won't even notice...)
I'm writing something sinister for a change ;-) Maybe you remember the film "Repulsion" by Roman Polanski? Stay tuned...
so it doesn't sound like "where the angels go to pee" ;-) I also made the kid a boy: the rush hour's craze takes its toll a victims spouse to console her kid, too young to understand, reaches for his mother's hand and says "I cannot sleep where the angels...
... Actually there have been several new MotorPlanet songs over the past three years - but not with my lyrics. Now, after a wait of nearly three years, I am supposed to write the lyrics for "a new day breaks".
Actually I have no news. Well, nothing much, except: I'll write this from a femal perspective. Men are much 'better' crooks than women, so it should be easier to find fitting stories or situations ;-)
I will stop using overblog yet will keep posting news directly on my own web site (until now I used overblog RSS feeds to add news to my site). If you want to check out what I am up to just visit me on http://bernd-harmsen.de See you there! Bernd
I have begun recording "terminal disease", so I am busy playing the guitar and singing at the moment. Also, Alex intends to re-write the song he had sent. Therefore, I've put that little project on hold, too. In other words, I will have to neglect this...
