I describe my ongoing lyrics writing projects. Where I get my ideas, how I match my words with other people's music, which little helpers I use...
I mentioned that I wasn't happy with the line(s) "what we're having | must be retained". "Retain" is rather formal, normally you would say "saved", but I couldn't find a viable rhyme for "saved". A songwriting colleague suggested the line "is sweet champagne". I changed that to "sweet like champagne" because champagne isn't actually sweet, hoping that the metaphoric meaning comes through clearer. The chorus now reads:
Both:
what we're having
is so precious
what we're having
can't be explained
what we're having
is pure magic
what we're having
sweet like champagne
