I describe my ongoing lyrics writing projects. Where I get my ideas, how I match my words with other people's music, which little helpers I use...
It's a bit weird: I write lyrics that I offer others to set to music, or I write lyrics to match tunes others have already written. Yet when I record a song myself I nearly always begin with the guitar track with not the faintest ideas as for a tune or its lyrics. Only when I'm done I begin thinking about if and how some words might fit in. Actually, this would be an approach like "writing lyrics for a chord progression" - which I refuse doing for others.
This time I browsed my lyrics that have not been set to music to date trying to discover the "tune in them" - as I always imagine some tune when writing lyrics it was actually more a matter of re-discovering the tune I had in mind then. The first title that appealed to me was "next in line", so this is the song I'm working on at the moment. I'm already done with guitar(s) and "drums" (MIDI). Next I'll do the bass, also MIDI, then I'll sing it. It's rather fast and short, just about one and a half minutes.
