I looked up phrases that contain the word 'thumb' on Phrasen.com and put down three that might fit in my song:
rule of thumb
to stick out like a sore thumb
to give sb the thumbs up/down
... and I wrote this:
by rule of thumb
a severed thumb stickin' out
in effect just means
thumbs down for you
As this part is rather short I added a second stanza:
this tiny part
of your victim's corpse
makes your whole home town
point a finger at you
I find it funny! If I can come up with some viable verses these eight lines could make the chorus.
