I describe my ongoing lyrics writing projects. Where I get my ideas, how I match my words with other people's music, which little helpers I use...
a proud old man, a baby boy
his long-awaited grandson
descendant, heir to a long line (1)
who will in the long run (2)(3)
set up his sep'rate fam'ly
pass on his genes and name
maybe eventually
he'll even come to fame
Notes:
1. stress on the "a" - not exactly great but feasable; it actually sounds quite good with the tune in my mind
2. I'm scrapping the upbeat note here
3. I first put down:
XX in the long run [the first two syllables still missing]
he will start his own fam'ly
I used the first verse as a template for the meter. After struggling with sentences containg the words "father", "family" etc. I came up with the first line, "a proud old man...", and the ideas started flowing again...
