I describe my ongoing lyrics writing projects. Where I get my ideas, how I match my words with other people's music, which little helpers I use...
A text - possibly a poem - becomes song lyrics when it is sung. Until then it's just some text even if it's meant as song lyrics in the eyes of its author. Only when there is a tune, and a singer struggles with the words, the text can proove its suitability as a song lyric. More often than not the text will have to be edited or at least 'tweaked' a little to match the tune. While singing "Monkey Stew" I edited a few lines so they would flow more smoothly. I deleted two "the" and added a "not":
... you jumped over [the] lave flow
... eat it with [the] live monkey eyes staring at you
... you said such kind of food you could NOT face
I still stumbled at a few places ("treasures" sounds like "Trevor's"), but then, it's only me ;-)
The recording is on SoundClick where all my stuff is.
