After "Spartacus" and "Europa" my next historic or rather mythologic project shall be "Ganymede". Yet again it's Zeus falling in love with a beautiful human being, but this time it's a boy.
Other than with "Europa" this time I was having a tune in my mind together with the first words. Writing lyrics is actually easier this way because tune and words together create a rhythm and a mood and somehow suggest themselves. I was thinking of some kind of pastoral tune from the beginning, the intro being played on a flute (Ganymede was a shepard). Never mind that the
tune so far sounds somewhat Scottish or Irish (Greek would be more fitting).
While I normally use to begin with the chorus this time I started with the verse. Maybe I'll have to rewrite the whole song once I've written the chorus. Who knows.
guarding the sheep was a beautiful boy
the pride of his parents - this young prince from Troy
a delight to the eye of the passers by
his beauty so blinding that they'd want to cry
