Europa (III)

This is a first: I've had no idea for the chorus yet, and I've had no tune in my mind. Normally, I'd begin with the chorus and a tune. Instead, this time I wrote the verses down in the correct sequence right away. And I didn't have to do any re-arranging at all.

These are the verses:

you were picking wild flowers with your maids by the coast
when a wondrous milk-white bull caught your eye
a marvellous beauty - it let you get close
so gentle, so great, and not at all shy

caressing his flanks, his fur - so light
pastoral peace under blue skies
you dared to mount him, you wanted a ride
and feel his strength between your thighs

** Chorus outstanding **

the bull slowly wandered toward the sea
jumped into the waves to carry you forth
you felt no fear, you did not plead
headed for Crete, far in the north

the God lifted his guise to show you his love
you gave in to him, half victim, half bride
he made you Crete's queen, guarding you from above
and you'd always fondly remember the ride

** Chorus **

** Bridge outstanding **

** Chorus **

I had put down a few notes before:

caress
stroke

feel his strength between her thighs
(I just love inserting suggestive lines here and there)
cries, tries, prize, guise, skies, eyes
(rhymes gathered from the rhyming dictionary)

a beautiful milk-white bull caught your eye
cry, shy, fly, why, high, sky

to give o.s. to s.b.
(to match the meter I had to use a different expression - to give in to s.b.)
