Europa (II)

The story:

Zeus fell in love with the Phoenician princess Europa. He approched her in the guise of a beautiful white bull (he normally would disguise himself to escape his wife Hera's jealousy). Europy caressed the bull, and eventually even mounted him. The bull moved slowly towards the sea, jumped into the water, and abducted the young girl to Crete. There he revealed his true identity and they made love. Zeus and Europa had three children. Europa later married the king of Crete who adopted her sons.

The "Metamorphoses" by Ovid describe Europa's seduction. It's Jupiter here abducting her, but Jupiter is just the Roman equivalent of Zeus.
(I've downloaded an English translation of the "Metamorphoses", and stored "Europa's rape" separately for later reference - in the Greek myth there is no difference between seduction and rape!)

Now that I've got the story, how will I go about writing the lyrics?

First I will put down sentences describing parts of the story in varying formulations. Thus I hope to find lines appropriate for a poem or lyrics. I've got Ovid's version, of course, but I won't use it directly, it's too long, anyway.

Next I will put the lines I've come up with in an order so they make sense, i.e. I'll actually rewrite the story.

Next I will check for rhymes, maybe have to find synonyms that could rhyme, or I might have to re-formulate single sentences so they match up with others.

... That's the part I'm overlooking right now. I have no idea as for the chorus yet. Neither do I know if or how I may be able to include references to Europe into the text. That's what I intend to do. But time will have to show. "Europa" is also one of my rare projects without any idea for its melody. Normally, I'd have one or two lines for the chorus in my mind together with their tune, and I'd go from there. Well, "Spartacus" started off like this one, see two stories put into perspective
