Craig wants to set my lyrics to music. Because the lines two and four of the verses do not match the tune he has in mind I rewrote them to make them the same or similar meter as lines one and three. Craig also suggested a simpler phrase for the bridge: "it isn't very hard too learn" instead of "it's quite easy to discern". As I had used the word "learn" in the second verse - "if you gave yourself a chance to learn" - he asked me to find an alternate expression.

Here are the new verses - and I also changed the bridge yet again:

if you just tried to look at things by daylight
maybe you'd be able to see a little more
instead believing in right, wrong, black, and white,
being bossy, keeping up slamming the door
in the face of people you could have loved
in the face of a future you'd enjoy
but you've always known better, haven't you?
you're still that stupid, angry young boy!

if you opend your mind there was so much to know
but you closed your eyes so you'd not have to see
the storm you're reaping is the wind that you sowed
it's the truth, not a question of your beliefs
there's a million people you could have loved
there's a future you could have enjoyed
but you've always known better, haven't you?
you're still that stupid, angry young boy!

BRIDGE:

I've got a very simple advice
but I won't be giving it twice
if you want to turn, just turn
it's never too late to learn

****

Now the musician has his say again.
