I describe my ongoing lyrics writing projects. Where I get my ideas, how I match my words with other people's music, which little helpers I use...
Not much of a chance for a perfect fit if you look at the variable line lengths. But the first verse works for my ear - listening to the roughly drafted tune and re-inventing it mentally on the fly using my words:
why can't
(the) time stand still for us
capturing this one / perfect moment
why can't the good things last
why can't we keep the past
living in cherished mem'ries
why does (our) life / have to go on
when there's reason / just to hold on
please don't tear me out of my sweet reverie-ie
leave me my daydream
leave me this small gleam
of a love that once has been and that may come back again
of a dream that once was true and that may come true again
I've only written one verse so far because I want to await Jen's okay to proceed. As for the song's content I plan to describe in the second verse how 'she' ignored 'me' over the last days since we met. In the bridge 'we' will meet again, and the spark will be there again - thus the song will get a positive twist and the chorus will make sense at last (the 'first time we met' requiring some kind of follow-up).
