trying to make sense: reason to live

These were my first notes:

if you know a cause to fight for, then fight
but make sure you look at the things by light
if you know a reason to live, then live
sometimes it's better to take then to give

It rhymes okay but doesn't make too much sense, does it? After shifting lines and a little editing the new chorus now reads:

if you know a cause to fight for, then fight
if there is no reason to take, then give
if you know a cause to die for, then die
if you know a reason to live, then live

Better, isn't it? I titled it "reason to live". I've kept the line "how about looking at things by daylight" in the store, so to speak. But I may not keep it in because it has the same meter as the other lines. Preferably, different parts of a song should have different meters and different rhyming patterns.
