I describe my ongoing lyrics writing projects. Where I get my ideas, how I match my words with other people's music, which little helpers I use...
When writing lyrics that are supposed to match a tune it may prove difficult to create real meaningful sentences. There IS a risk that you have to insert syllables like 'Oh', 'Yeah' etcetera to make the text fit. Kai from Norway found the lyrics that I originally wrote to match his tune too negative (actually I can see nothing negative when you emancipate yourself from a broken relationship, whatever ...). So instead I tried to write some light stuff. I find writing easygoing party stuff actually much harder than writing, say, ballads.
This is the new chorus I wrote for Kai:
when you dance and move your body you hold all the guys' attention
you're just yourself, your lucky self, and you know no pretension
if there was a winner or a price you'd sure be in contention
and I wonder when will I
see you again
The former version read:
you claim you've got a right to escapades 'cause you're undecided
just get on with this, but let me tell you that you are misguided
I turned a blind eye to your cheats - you know that I've tried it
now I know that I am not
the man for you
no, Baby, I am not
the man for you
I've only just noticed that I must have overlooked the last two lines. This would be an instance where the 'Ohs' come in, like:
Oh, Baby when will I
see you again
No big deal!
