I describe my ongoing lyrics writing projects. Where I get my ideas, how I match my words with other people's music, which little helpers I use...
Actually I doubt that there is such a thing as a correct order if it comes to creativity. Anyway, I had the lyrics, I decided to record a song, and I actually began with writing the tune. Although I use to have a tune in mind when I write lyrics I hardly ever bothered to put it down. The tune that pops up together with the first few lines of text usually will later become the chorus. Therefore, I started with the chorus when editing the melody for my next song, adding melodies for the verses and the bridge later.
Only after completing the tune I edited tracks for drums and bass. I also made notes which chords might match. Today I played these chords on guitar. Altogether, this could be called a textbook approach. The first time ever! In former projects I only had vague ideas as to the tune for the verses, and I used to record the guitar tracks first because they are most fun. Only later did I add bass and drum tracks. And more often than not I found that somehow the music didn't fit together with the words too well...
Tonight I'll record the vocals. If it works out I'll post the song on SoundClick. It will be "who I am".
