the odds stacked against me

a dressing-down at work
it was all shame on me
because once more, I was too late

I was bedded on roses
my life has been a down and up
like on a roller-coaster
you may have hit bottom
but soon again you'll reach the top
- this should probably make the last verse because it kind of rounds up the content (life goes up and down).
