ransacking my scrap book

The following entry had rested in my scrap book long enough:

call a spade a spade
don't call me your lover
you have come too late
you got to find another
you had better open your eyes and
call a spade a spade

It was time I did something about it. Here is what I have come up with:

call a spade a spade
don't call me your lover
it doesn't mean a thing
when we get it on

call a spade a spade
don't call me your lover
when you come too late
you will find me gone

call a spade a spade
don't call me your lover
if you need a friend
I am not the one

you had better open your eyes and
call a spade a spade

This would be the chorus - a rather opulent chorus, mind you, but a chorus anyway. After its completion I added just two verses resorting to my good old Penguin Rhyming Dictionary quite a lot:

Baby, we just have our fun, don't we
just don't overplay your hand, you see
you aren't helping things if you press me
I just need space and time to feel free

maybe you hope for things I can't give
all your appeals will prove abortive
why can't you be some more supportive
let's just enjoy our lust while we live

The structure I have in mind for a song would be: chorus - verse - chorus - verse - chorus.
