I don't remember how often I've edited and re-edited a particular line in "close your eyes".  The song is about four years old, if I remember correctly. Only recently I decided to give it another go and try to record it yet again, maybe simplify the guitar track so I might be able to play it properly this time. Today I've decided to change the line(s)

sequence of abuse

into

I wonder how you can stand this ceaseless
torrent of abuse

"ceaseless" is definitely better than "endless". As for the "torrent of abuse" which actually was the original expression I had used I now decided to leave it at that. It has a special meaning that's sort of shifted from the literal meaning, but I've grown confident that the native speakers will get the meaning in the context of my lyrics straight away - maybe easier than we foreigners. Using "sequence" instead of "torrent" didn't actually clarify things.
