I describe my ongoing lyrics writing projects. Where I get my ideas, how I match my words with other people's music, which little helpers I use...
I put down the story outline:
1) an African family decides to send their young, healthy, strong son abroad to make his fortune and maybe will be able to support them in the long run. They pool their funds together to pay the smugglers.
2) together with other migrants and refugees the young man crosses the Mediterannean sea in a shabby old boat to make his luck either in Italy (Lampedusa) or South Spain (coast of Almeria)
3) two variants (see 2.):
- he makes it to Lampedusa but is retained in a camp to await his deportation back to Africa
- he finds work as an illegal farm hand in South Spain
I'm tending to the second variant (Spain).
