I describe my ongoing lyrics writing projects. Where I get my ideas, how I match my words with other people's music, which little helpers I use...
I swapped the verses giving the text some kind of chronological order: first the jealousy or grudge of competing women (Athena), then the men turning away from 'her' - or being turned to stone - as the result. Actually, Julia would like to keep the text more ambiguous, regarding my version as too close to the original myth, thus giving too little room for other interpretations.
a blinding beauty
female allure
would bring begrudgers
to the scene
so in the end
the turn for the worse
came with Athena's curse
a fiery woman's curse
and all that remains is regret
is her wish to be that fair woman
to be different and unique
to be the one they want
the one they want
Ohoho Oho
all men who dare behold her
Ohoho Oho
being turned to stone
cold faces
faces turned to stone
hundreds of hearts
still trembling
in deep silence,
they want to dance again
fear and laugh again
care and love again
but all that remains is regret
is her wish to be that fair woman
to be different and unique
to be the one they want
the one they want
Ohoho Oho
all men who dare behold her
Ohoho Oho
being turned to stone
cold faces
faces turned to stone
A 'Medusa-free' version could read:
blinding beauty
female allure
will bring begrudgers
to the scene
so in the end
the turn for the worse
comes with the other's curse
the fiery women's curse
and all that remains is regret
the wish to be that fair woman (again)
to be different and unique
to be the one they want
the one they want
Ohoho Oho
the men who once admired you
Ohoho Oho
have turned to stone
cold faces
faces of stone
your suiter's hearts
once trembling
when they saw you
longed to dance with you
sing and laugh with you
no longer care for you
and all that remains is regret
is your wish to be that fair woman (again)
to be different and unique
to be the one they want
the one they want
Ohoho Oho
the men who once admired you
Ohoho Oho
have turned to stone
cold faces
faces of stone
