I describe my ongoing lyrics writing projects. Where I get my ideas, how I match my words with other people's music, which little helpers I use...
Fortunately, the meter for the verses is quite simple, it's eight times the same pattern: - - X - X
The first lines I've come up with are:
when the work is done
when the school is out
it's time for some fun
and we sing and shout
There I've got stuck and so began working on the pre-chorus that comprises four lines with twelve through fourteen syllables each with a slightly varying meter.
but we have to hurry up because the night gets close
we clean up, make up, getting ready for the show
got to get started 'cause there is no time to lose
in no time we're ready and we are all geared up to go
My ideas for the third line simply would not match the meter at first. To make it match I later changed it slightly to:
got to get started, folks, because there is no time to lose
After listening again and again and trying multiple times at least I could sing it to the tune now. But still the chorus will require quite a few rehearsals, I guess. Have I mentioned that the tune is rather fast?
