More suggestions, another re-write. It's verse 1 this time:
my freedom ends at your factory door
the next few hours are yours for sure
you are in power - I do my job
I work real hard, but you're not (my) God
The word "my" is optional as it could muddle the meter. "Factory" might be replaced with "plant". Yet again the music, i.e. the meter, should determine which fits in better.
A songwriting colleague also suggested an alternative pre-chorus:
you may think you can dictate to me
you may think you can lay down the law
you base your views on what's good for you
but man, I've seen it all
