I describe my ongoing lyrics writing projects. Where I get my ideas, how I match my words with other people's music, which little helpers I use...
I guess that most song deal with this message, "I love you", "I love you so much, I can't live without you", and so on. It's the greatest feeling there is, and it makes the most boring song lyrics there are. For my - still non-existing - video tutorial I had prepared a little sample on how you can make lyrics interesting that are prone to becoming very trite indeed, like lyrics with the title or subject "I love you".
Maybe you remember Frank Sinatra's "somethin' stupid", a song by Carson Parks? "And then I go and spoil it all, by saying something stupid like: 'I love you'". That's the trick: you wrap the message in a slightly different context, or give it a different angle.
My little example read:
millions say it to each other
it sounds so dull and trite
it just makes my feel so awkward
it would not come out right
thus I've refrained from saying
what I should have said all along:
"I love you"
I made the problem of finding words that declare my love in a song without sounding too stupid the very content of the lyrics themselves.
Yesterday I added another verse and a bridge to obtain complete lyrics titled "I love you" ;-)
