Writing about "giants who fall" has been on my mind for quite a while. Former entries from my scrap book:
and the pagans simply waited
for the day
that the giants should fall
they used to stand so tall
hiding behind their 6 feet wall
but the people are just waiting
for the day
that the giants shall fall
Recently, while on my winter vacation, I put down the lyric for a chorus:
I've seen mountains wash away
I've seen dreams grow small
I've seen empires crumble
I've seen giants fall
I think I'll make it one of my "episodical" songs, i.e. each verse telling a different story but relaying the same basic idea. One verse could be about a hero or king, another about a dominating group like the bankers (standing for the domination of the financial capital over our economies), and one about an ordinary, oppressive boss. The "pride becomes before a fall" part may be placed in pre-choruses or in the bridge like, for example, "today they may stand so tall but I've seen giants fall".
