I describe my ongoing lyrics writing projects. Where I get my ideas, how I match my words with other people's music, which little helpers I use...
I refered to transcendental meditation once before in "listen to the music", a text that Craig has set to music. "All by itself" refers more directly to the Mantra used in this technique, and I even use images that Maharishi Mahesh Yogi used.
I have replaced "tune" with "sound" - that comes closer.
The part:
like a dim hint of hope
_ that you seem to find ('_' indicates a pause)
at the end of your rope
.. sounds maybe a little dark or gloomy. It's actually more owed to my rhyming addiction than intended. But as meditation can have a comforting quality, and actually had in my past, the lines are not really misplaced. And it's just an allegory, anyway.
I sort of stole the image
like a shiny crystal ball
hovering in space
.. from my own "lost in space", a song that for me conveys a very similar mood or atmosphere.
The bridge directly describes what you experience or are supposed to experience during meditation:
I am all by myself
and I'm fully aware
all by myself
fully aware
I feel the cosmic flow
and I'm fully aware
the cosmic quiet
fully aware
I'm posting the full text on my lyrics pages on the weekend.
