I describe my ongoing lyrics writing projects. Where I get my ideas, how I match my words with other people's music, which little helpers I use...
I kept wondering, will people approve of the absurd last lines in each verse of "against the wall". While the first three lines of each verse make sense - well, more or less (the reference to meat eating vegans doesn't make THAT much sense) - the last lines are written in the style of a fable*. They don't really fit at first sight. I am a bit surprised that nobody commented on this. However, there have been quite encouraging comments:
Billy:
Good one - hard hitting. I would change one word. It’s become politcally incorrect to talk about people a certain way. So I would replace the word "moron" with the word "cluless" or something similar.
Tom:
LOL vegan eating meat again, man that’s good... Well written, I could hear Springsteen doing something like this.
Tony:
I really enjoyed reading it. Lots of great lines that are so true.
Calvin:
this is an interesting lyric. lots of cool lines.
Susie:
I think this is wonderful. An amazing use of words. I just finished watching a series about Henry VIII and found myself angry that the people in those times could be so controlled by religion and politics. We need to use common sense to make certain we don't take the same road. You've hit enough nails on the head to build a pretty amazing building.
* This is how the verses are contructed: the first three lines describe fictive or real-life absurdities, the fourth line does the same in the manner of a fable:
a blind man describing colors to the deaf
the moron talks about philosophy
the living full of envy for the dead
the fish are roosting in the canopy
...
a mouse states it will make no prisoners
...
the frog claims kissing maids is sodomy
