First I had put down words and phrases that could describe what a young man might look for or do at a weekend: look for action, rocket, look for thrills or kicks, get me high, hang out, ... get pissed (that made it!). After writing the first verse and a few single lines for the other verses I consulted my ryhming dictionary for matching words. Thus I found "tantrum" for boredom (not the best rhyme but fits with the overall lyric), and "provoke" for "bloke" discarding "choke", "joke", and "broke".
When I was finished I replaced "love" with "lust" to match the atmosphere of the song. I forgot to mention that I had come up with the subject when I first gathered ideas to match the sound. The rough cut sounds like Cream (do you remember? Jack Bruce, Eric Clapton, and Ginger Baker), only faster. To me it sounds a bit frustrated and a bit angry. Whatever, here's the text:
tiger in a cage
another Friday
another weekend lies ahead
another Friday
one of these days I've come to dread
hangin' 'round with brother boredom
she's gone for good now
said I could stuff her company
so in my spare time
all that is left to do for me
get pissed and throw a tantrum
I am feeling churned up
I'm feeling turned on
I feel like a tiger
in a cage
I am feeling churned up
I'm feeling turned on
I waver between
lust and rage
[Solo]
look at the chicks now
no single girl without her bloke
a smile can cause a row
their blokes are easily provoked
you may have to knock 'em down first
she's gone for good now
said I could stuff her company
so in my spare time
all that is left to do for me
got to find for what I thirst
I am feeling churned up
I'm feeling turned on
I feel like a tiger
in a cage
I am feeling churned up - so confused
I'm feeling turned on
I waver between
lust and rage
