Lyrics in Progress

I've written songs and lyrics since eleven years. My very first song was "Spring". To date there are 76 songs, and 261 lyrics by myself. As I'm not exactly a musician, let alone a composer, it is much more exciting to state how many lyrics have been set to music by other people. This is my little statistic:

A curiosity that is due to my non-exclusice licensing is that 18 lyrics have been set to music at least twice - different tunes to the very same lyrics.

To my knowledge, 114 of my lyrics have never been set to music to date. Two of these are not licensable because they are co-writes (with Adrian Chapman), one is not exactly suitable for normal music, that leaves 111 lyrics waiting to be discovered by musicians.

Only 12 titles are currently registered with the German performing rights organization GEMA. Those are the ones that were or are being performed or that seem to have commerical potential. Actually all MotorPlanet songs would fall under this category since MotorPlanet has performed songs comprising my lyrics since ten years. The simple reason is that I do not know their durations - which is a required entry in the GEMA database! The guys simply won't tell me! Consequently, MotorPlanet - from the PRO's view - is still regarded a cover band that plays chart tunes (royalties that cannot be assigned to particular songs are distributed evenly over all stakeholders, i.e. all composers and lyricists - thus most go to the big shots).

Daydream have split up. Wait and see what becomes of their songs.
