Hey Joy, come and join me
let's toy around and have some fun
it's such a fine day today
so let's get crazy in the sun
Joy,
when you smile at me I feel so good
Joy,
when we're making love I get so high
Joy,
when we're talking I feel understood
Joy,
when you're with me then I can fly
Hey Joy, don't leave me yet
while you're here the time flies by
when you're around I feel so free
all sorrows fade into the sky

I had written the chorus first - as at most times. I've also put down the beginning of another verse:
Hey Joy, please stay awhile
you put a smile upon my face
...
This could eventually make the second verse, so "Hey Joy, don't leave me yet" would become the last one, which would give the song some kind of timeline as its logical structure:
Hey Joy, come and join me...
Hey Joy, please stay awhile...
Hey Joy, don't leave me yet...
When the idea first popped up I thought of writing in the manner of "Vanity" or "Violet", but "Dear Prudence" by John Lennon also sprang to my mind.
