I describe my ongoing lyrics writing projects. Where I get my ideas, how I match my words with other people's music, which little helpers I use...
... will be the title of my new song. In my last post I had mentioned that it would need a very strong chorus because it consists of nothing much else ;-) Yet, how do you create a strong chorus or a good 'hook'? By repetition! At least, that is the easiest - and probably best - approach. That's why my chorus goes "where were you... where were you ... where were you .... where were you". Sounds like naked despair, doesn't it? This is the chorus with the gaps filled in:
where were you when I called your name
where were you when I called in vain
where were you when I cried in pain
where were you when I went insane
The rhyming pattern - A A A A - is supposed to add to its intensity. After editing the bass track today I only need to sing it. That might turn out to be a challenge: the first three notes of the chorus will all have to be e' - that is the highest note that I can reach at all...
