working hard to make a living
an ordinary car
the daily trip to work
at five it's quitting time
not a reason for misgivings

stupefied and numb
it's so hard to find sense
the days drag on and on
no soothing balm, no suture
somehow life goes on
household chores to do
eventually tears dry
first glimpses of a future

BRIDGE [not yet written, maybe some general message in the manner "life is short and may end quite abruptly" which would definitely make this text yet another 'carpe diem song']
