I describe my ongoing lyrics writing projects. Where I get my ideas, how I match my words with other people's music, which little helpers I use...
During yesterday's lunch break I wrote a verse as well as a chorus, but I'm happy with neither. I don't like the chorus because I've already written a song called "who I am" that I actually find quite good myself. A new song titled "who am I" would look pretty dull in comparison. And I don't like the verse because it deals with death (yet again). As I'm having another 'project' in mind that also deals with decease (more on this in a minute) that would be too much dying to my taste (it wouldn't actually matter that much since I've written more than 200 lyrics that do NOT deal with dying, but, well, you know ...).
Anyway, this will NOT be it, it's only yesterdays thoughts:
'twas not the place I fancied
'twas not the place I had been looking for
though all the windows had been opened
I still kept running 'gainst the door
who am I
where am I going
who am I fooling
who am I
I had this dream 'bout flying
I'd never thought that I could hit the floor
when you think you know all there is
you will find that there may well be more
who am I
where am I going
who am I fooling
who am I
[instrumental]
who am I
where am I going
who am I fooling
who am I
I had this fear of dying
I'd never thought that I would see the light
when you expect sheer pain and darkness
you may find that things can be alright
