I describe my ongoing lyrics writing projects. Where I get my ideas, how I match my words with other people's music, which little helpers I use...
It was easier than expected:
she has lots of admirers
she can afford to take her pick
secretely I wait for her
to get rid of her current prick
You migth observe that the syllable counts don't quite match the first verse (the first and third lines of the first verse didn't match either). I think the lines can fit the meter of a tune, nonetheless (I actually have a tune in mind). You may have to add an upbeat note here and there, or shift the stresses a little:
doin' my Friday shopping => she has lots of admirers
I think I've got all I need => she can afford to take her pick
today I'll do the cooking => secretely I wait for her
I've got a few mouths to feed => to get rid of her current prick
See the pattern? It's three stresses in the uneven lines, and four stresses in the even ones. The uneven lines end unstressed, the even ones end accentuated. The lines that begin unstressed actually begin with an upbeat, i.e. a note that is sung before the first beat of the next bar. "for her" will have to be sung with two very short notes. Although, at first sight, the lines may not look like it, they flow quite well with the music in my mind.
