I describe my ongoing lyrics writing projects. Where I get my ideas, how I match my words with other people's music, which little helpers I use...
I wasn't quite happy with the bridge of "I've waited for you to happen". Although it seemed to match the tune in my mind when I wrote it I had the feeling that the meter was off. Today I envisioned or 'invented' a different fitting tune - quite obviously because I already had forgotten the one from yesterday - to adapt the text accordingly. I believe the meter is better now, easier to handle, I mean, because most likely neither tune will become part of the song...
I was short of giving up
when in the most unlikely place,
on my day-to-day commuter bus,
I would spot your pretty face
I grabbed your arm urging you
to please sit down by my side
I didn't want to upset you
yet I just had to put things right
I didn't count the syllables, by the way. Neither did I mark the stresses. I simply hummed a tune.
