I describe my ongoing lyrics writing projects. Where I get my ideas, how I match my words with other people's music, which little helpers I use...

Hooray, a new project in the making: next in line

First version of what will become the chorus, put down as it sprung to my mind:

I'm the next in the row, I'm next in line

they won't keep me waiting long, they're all so kind

I'll be served in a minute, I will be fine

don't you worry little Baby, I'm next in line

As at most times it came to my mind together with a tune that actually might be a tune by Joe Bonamassa of who I am a big fan. May be, may be not - it doesn't really matter because the tunes in my mind only kind of serve to define the meter. Even the songs that I eventually may record myself more often than not turn out quite different from what I had in mind originally.

Refined version, written after a visit to the fitness studio:

I'm standing in the row, I'm next in line

they won't keep me waiting, they're all being kind

I'll be served in a minute, so I'll be fine

don't you worry little Baby, I'm next in line

My wife said that if it's supposed to be about dying the phrase "don't you worry little Baby" does not really fit. I intend to write yet another of my 'episodical' lyrics comprising three independent verses, one about waiting in the till queue, one about waiting that the girl I love gets separated from her current boy friend, the last one about dying, indeed. In the latter case the phrase in question may seem slightly ironic - "never mind, I'm only dying" - which actually suits me fine, it fits my usual writing style ;-)
