This may become the chorus:
let your gaze wander
from the top of the wall
over the blooming land
over courtyards, fountains, and flower beds
let your thoughts wander
and make sure to recall
the time of glory and
the great king of kings, called Gilgamesh
It's based on the prologue to the epos. The expression "king of kings" comes from there, the wall around Uruk was built by Gilgamesh (the historic one as well as the mythic one), the mention of Uruk's beauty that you can admire looking down from its wall is based on it. Actually the prologue is very short, hardly any longer than my eight lines. As for the verses that are supposed to tell Gilgamesh's personal story (the mythic one's) I definitely will have to condense the story.
