I describe my ongoing lyrics writing projects. Where I get my ideas, how I match my words with other people's music, which little helpers I use...
I arranged the names of flowers by blooming seasons, trying to align these seasons with different stages of love (first love, steady relationship, settled love). After sorting them out there were not many left:
Primrose - young love, I can't live without you - bloom very early, from March through early summer
Tulip - declaration of love, passion - April
Jonquil - affection returned - April, May
Honeysuckle - Bonds of love, generous, devoted affection - May, June
Gorse - love in all seasons - April-July
Rose, red - love, true love, passion, desire - June through fall
Lemon blossoms - Faithful love - all year (smelly!)
Chrysanthemum, red - fidelity, love - August, October
Next I began writing verses. I've finished two by now:
the first primroses blooming
and the air smells of promise -
it's spring time
I walk in my garden
and I dream of my first love -
so sublime
my first time
love so sublime -
my own spring time
the jonquils and the tulips
soon will be in full flower -
beauty shared
I dream in my garden
thinking of our affection
love declared
our passion shared
love declared
our passion shared
