Lyrics in Progress

Before I can begin collecting phrases, lines of text I could use, or even verses, I have to gather a little information on my subject. Often, I use Wikipedia for a start.

Here is what I noted down:

Spartacus and fellow gladiators seized knifes from the cook's shop

were betrayed by pirates who were supposed to ship them across the sea

but were defeated in a subsequent battls
Spartacus fought bravely until the very end
the surviving followers were crucified and left hanging as a deterrent to other slaves

the slave war lasted more than two years

in the aftermath of the civil war the number of agricultural slaves was reduced
their legal status was improved
killing slaves was forbidden
mistreated slaves had to be sold or freed
