Lyrics in Progress

Maybe you've noticed that my lyrics are quite varied. And, yes I'm proud of it! Pride is one of the seven deadly sins or captial vices, I'm afraid. So I'm bound for damnation. Fortunatly, I'm not a believer, so I can live with being damnated.

Anyway, if your are interested in how I keep getting all these ideas I'll teel you a secret: it's the age! Or you might call it 'experience'. This may be quite frustrating for my young friends and readers (for who I write this stuff), but it's the devastating truth. The older you are the more you have lived to see and the more stories you can tell. Unfortunately, the things you tell become more convincing when they contain at least traces of truth.

So, what can a young guy do, to write good poetry or lyrics? I would recommend to stick to your own experience as close as possible. Your feelings for example: anger, frustration, hope, enthusiasm ... Or even dreams and fantasies. There is quite a world of 'inner' experiences to write about, and many young writers do exactly that.

Maybe you've also noticed that my lyrics differ largely from the texts of young writers. That's again due to my age! One becomes more placid. And a bit philosophic (I'm refering to "lost in space" and "terminal disease" among others, lyrics of a kind I wouldn't expect from a young writer). And I couldn't write 'Gothic' titles, I think. "Cathedral" is as close as I get, but that one is maybe sort of 'Medieval' but not 'Gothic'.
